Senior Payroll Specialist

Position Purpose:
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and executing all administrative tasks related to payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage biweekly and weekly payrolls from start to finish.


  • Accurately enter and maintain payroll data in Paycom HRIS, including direct deposits, salary adjustments, hours worked, PTO, bonuses, reimbursements, and deductions.


  • Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner.


  • Process new hire paperwork, ensuring accurate and complete employee records.


  • Handle employment verifications.


  • Generate and distribute biweekly payroll reports covering gross pay, deductions, and taxes.


  • Review W-2 statements for accuracy and compliance.


  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies related to timekeeping, deductions, and employee information.


  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.


  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.


  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing and tax compliance. Healthcare industry experience is a plus.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in payroll processing and HRIS systems, particularly Paycom.


  • Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance.


  • High level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.


  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • Advanced technical skills, including experience with payroll software and Microsoft Office.


  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


  • Exceptional customer service and employee support skills.


  • Adaptability to evolving payroll technologies and regulations.


  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
